Coralytic ("we", "our", "the app") is published by Limenet. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Coralytic is designed to be a local-first aquarium tracking tool — your data lives on your device.
1. Summary
- We do not collect personal information. No account, no login, no email required.
- Your reef data stays on your device in Apple's local SwiftData store.
- No third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- AI Insights (Pro feature) sends anonymized tank parameter data to Google's Gemini API to generate suggestions. No personal identifiers are sent.
- Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment information.
2. Information stored on your device
The following data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad and never transmitted unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires transmission (see Section 3):
- Tank metadata (name, volume, type, setup date, optional photo)
- Water parameter logs (alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, phosphate, pH, salinity, temperature, ammonia, nitrite, ORP, potassium, iodine, strontium, boron)
- Maintenance tasks and completion history
- Livestock entries (corals, fish, invertebrates) and their photos
- Equipment inventory and purchase prices
- ICP test results you manually enter
- App preferences (units, language, notification settings)
3. Data shared with third parties
Google Gemini AI (Pro subscribers only)
If you have an active Coralytic Pro subscription and use the AI Insights feature, the app sends an anonymized snapshot of your tank context to Google's Gemini API to generate insights:
- Tank type, volume, age in days
- Recent parameter values and trends (last 30 days)
- Active maintenance task counts
- Anonymized livestock counts (no names of corals/fish are sent)
- Most recent ICP element values, if any
The data is sent over HTTPS. No personal identifiers (name, email, device ID) are included. Google processes this data per the Gemini API Terms. Insights are cached on your device for 24 hours to minimize API calls.
You can disable AI Insights at any time by canceling your Pro subscription or simply not opening the AI Insights tab.
Apple StoreKit (subscriptions)
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. Coralytic only receives an anonymous receipt confirming whether your subscription is active. We do not see, store, or transmit your payment information, billing address, or Apple ID.
4. Permissions we request
- Photo Library — only when you tap to add a tank or livestock photo. Photos you select are stored on-device.
- Camera — only when you tap "Take photo" to capture a livestock or tank image.
- Notifications — only used to remind you about scheduled maintenance tasks. No marketing or promotional notifications are sent.
5. Children's privacy
Coralytic is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, because we do not collect personal information from anyone.
6. Data retention & deletion
All data is stored locally. To delete your data, simply delete the Coralytic app from your device — iOS will remove the local database, photos, and preferences.
If you cancel your Pro subscription, we have nothing to delete from our servers (we don't store anything). The 24-hour AI Insights cache is wiped on next refresh or reinstall.
7. Security
Local data is protected by iOS's standard sandbox and Data Protection. Network requests to the Gemini API use HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher.
8. International users
The app is available worldwide. Where applicable (e.g., GDPR for EU users, CCPA for California residents), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data — though, as noted, we don't collect any. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at the email below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance.
